Who am I
My name is Charles Squires, and I am a Senior at South Salem High School in the class of 2026! A little bit about me is that I am an extrovert who enjoys Photography, Mountaineering, and going to the Gym. In my free time, I enjoy planning out future Mountains that I may be able to climb, convincing my friends that the hike is really "not that bad," playing football, and throwing Shot Put.
I am currently enrolled in South Salem High School's News Production program. In this program, I help produce the school's newspaper, and I also help produce shows in our Saxon TV program. I have always been interested in sports media and photojournalism, and this program has helped me see what I could do!
Through Photography, I have won two awards: the UofO/Oregon Journalism Education Association Portrait Photography Best in Show and the Oregon Journalism Education Association Event Photography 1st runner up. In addition to photography, I have won two awards in Media and News Production. These are the Oregon Journalism Education Association Broadcast Journalism Best in Show Sports Interview with Kip Ione aswell as the Oregon Journalism Education Association Broadcast Journalism Best in Show overall. I also currently serve as the South Salem High School men's basketball color commentator.
